DCI is always looking for passionate community members interested in volunteering their time and skills

We want you to be a part of our organization that helps advocate, revitalize, and grow downtown Christiansburg and beyond.

Our needs are individuals with a variety of skills who can serve on the following committees for Fall 2023:

• Economic Vitality

  • The Economic Vitality Committee is dedicated to fostering sustainable economic growth, development, and revitalization within Downtown Christiansburg. The group is composed of Downtown business owners, community leaders, and economic professionals who collaborate and focus on capital, incentives, and other economic tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs.

    The committee focuses on a range of strategic initiatives which include:

    • Business Development and Support

    • Diversification of Economic Base

    • Collaboration and Partnerships: with the Town of Christiansburg

    • Physical Infrastructure Enhancement

• Promotions and Events

  • The Promotions and Events Committee is dedicated to elevating our community's profile, boosting local businesses, and creating memorable experiences that resonate with residents and visitors alike. The Promotions Committee is comprised of individuals who collaborate to design and implement innovative marketing, events, and communication initiatives.

    The committee focuses on a range of strategic initiatives which include:

    • Event Planning

    • Food Truck Rodeo

    • Digital Marketing and Social Media

    • Branding and Identity

    • Public Relations and Media Relations

    • Seasonal and Holiday Celebrations

    • Graphic Design

• Organization

  • The Organization Committee involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and implementing strategies for a successful nonprofit organization.

    The committee focuses on a range of strategic initiatives, which include:

    • Volunteer recruitment and management

    • Organizational systems and processes

    • Maintaining DCI online presence

    • Fundraising

    • Newsletters

• Design

  • The Design Committee is a group of creative minds, designers, and urban planners committed to transforming Downtown Christiansburg’s physical landscape into an inviting, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment. This committee collaborates with local architects, urban designers, artists, and preservationists to reimagine public spaces, the Downtown district, and architectural landmarks in ways that promote economic vitality and a strong sense of identity.

    The committee focuses on a range of strategic initiatives which include:

    • Streetscape Enhancements:

    • Facade Improvement Programs

    • Public Art and Cultural Expression:

    • The Great Little Park on Main

    • Crab Creek Watershed

Additional needs are the willingness to learn about urban planning, non-profit operation, and familiarize themselves with the small-town government process and laws.

Individuals must be willing to commit to one evening meeting per month. Meetings and volunteer time will increase slightly around special events or committee needs.
